Dr. William Klausmeyer
Dr. William Klausmeyer is a graduate of the University of Michigan School Of Dentistry, Class of 1984. Born in Highland Park, Illinois he grew up predominantly in Michigan, and also lived in Arlington Virginia. Always involved in athletics and in the outdoors, Dr. Klausmeyer played a variety of sports: football, bicycling, hiking, skiing, soccer, basketball, softball and running being among his pursuits. During his undergraduate years at Michigan, he was perennially on the Dean’s list, and as a freshman won the William Branstrom award signifying his being in the top 5% of his freshman class.
Dr. Klausmeyer was elected Vice-President of his class during his D2 year of dental school. He graduated in the top 20% of his class, and was awarded the Francis P. Vedder award upon graduation - given annually to a senior dental student demonstrating exceptional interest and skill in the area of Fixed Prosthodontics. After taking and passing the Northeast Regional Board, Dr. Klausmeyer accepted a faculty position at the U of M Dental School teaching junior and senior level students in the Crown and Bridge clinics.
Dr. Klausmeyer successfully completed the Florida Dental Board exam in December of 1984 and then decided to move there at the end of his contract with U of M in spring of 1985. After researching locations and working for other dentists during his first year and a half in Florida - he settled on starting a new practice in the small but growing town of Port St. Lucie. The town had fewer than 20,000 citizens at the time, and he was the 6th dentist in the city. In the 20 plus years he served Port St. Lucie – the town has grown to over 150,000 people and 100 dentists.
Dr. Klausmeyer has worked consistently over the years to help provide reasonably priced yet comprehensive care to the people – and give results one would expect to pay far more for – consistent with his training at U of M. He has kept abreast of developments in the profession, and works closely with other dentists, and specialists to assists his patients in receiving what the patient’s want, and then some. Dr. Klausmeyer recognizes that many people see a dentist reluctantly, fearfully, or sometimes not at all – and so has taken the necessary courses to offer his patients techniques for relaxation dentistry (using medication) and always searching for alternatives for the use of ‘scary stuff’ traditionally found in the dental office.
After the sale of his dental practice in May of 2008 he and his family relocated to Roswell, Georgia. Since then, Dr. Klausmeyer spent time preparing for the C.R.D.T.S. exam, required for licensure in the state of Georgia, meeting dentists in his area, screening patients for the board exam, studying for the written board exam, taking the Medical College of Georgia’s Prep Course, and then successfully completing the exam itself, receiving his Georgia license in early December of 2009.
Dr. Klausmeyer is an active volunteer in his community. Through these volunteer activities he hopes that through his efforts, he can help to preserve some of our world’s open spaces, enhance biodiversity, provide healthy recreation, and educate about reasonable growth. He is an avid runner and mountain biker which keeps him healthy and fit. He participates in multiple races around the area and beyond. Because he is so active, he has won many awards because of his participation!
Dr. Klausmeyer has 4 sons. Bryan the eldest is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at Johns Hopkins. Jason, is a dental student at Nova Southeastern School of Dentistry. James is in the Honors College and School of Music at Columbus State, and Christian attends Roswell High School.
